Calvin Choong has taken on the role of creative group head at Zeno Group based in Kuala Lumpur. Choong (pictured) said on his LinkedIn that as one of two creative leads, his role is to "do good work. And through good work, make a name for the clients, the agency and the creatives." He works closely with Shaiful Ayisy Sharifuddin who joined as  creative group head last November , and both of them report to GM Amanda Leong.

He was previously a senior copywriter with BBDO Malaysia for more than a year and worked on accounts including Libresse, Anmum, Perodua, Pepsi, Taylor's, 4Fingers and Rexona. The agency, however, ceased operations earlier this year and laid off 21 individuals. Before that, Choong was with Naga DDB Malaysia as a copywriter for close to three years. According to his LinkedIn, he mainly managed Digi but also worked on other accounts including Tiger Beer and PetFinder. Choong was also with Saatchi & Saatchi and Grey Group Malaysia.

Zeno Group was recently appointed by Muslim matchmaking app Hawaya to handle PR duties for a year across the brand's three most important Southeast Asian markets - Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. The agency has been tasked to drive the overall communications direction and strategy for the brand to drive awareness and build the presence of Hawaya across targeted markets. It was also reappointed by TNG Digital , creator of the Touch ‘n Go eWallet, for its PR remit, along with social media duties for Facebook. The appointment is for a year until 30 June 2021.
